The Art and Science of Making Work Work

When Rob Kennedy sees a complicated process, a difficult reporting challenge, or an obstacle slowing down his team, his instinct is to find a better way forward.
As Director of Marketing Operations at Audigy, Rob helps ensure his teams have the structure and support they need to deliver exceptional work for members. Sometimes that means improving a process or making data easier to understand. Other times it means stepping in wherever his experience can help solve a problem.
“I see a big part of my role as removing friction for our teams,” Rob says. “Our team members shouldn’t have to spend their time hunting down the process, the data, the tools, or the information they need to do their jobs effectively.”
That practical, supportive approach has defined Rob’s leadership throughout his 17 years at Audigy. By making complex work easier to navigate, he gives others more time and space to focus on what they do best.
Keeping the Work Moving

Rob leads Audigy’s Project Management, Traffic, Account Coordinator, and Media Buying teams. Together they coordinate much of the marketing work that moves through the department, manage projects on behalf of members, and negotiate and place media.
Rob makes sure these teams have the people, processes, tools, and resources they need to deliver remarkable experiences and industry-leading work for Audigy’s members.
On paper his responsibilities may fit neatly into a job description; his actual workdays rarely do.
“The market, the consumer, and technology are constantly changing and evolving, along with the needs of our members,” he says. “Staying on top of those changes keeps everyone on their toes — and, occasionally, keeps me wondering what I actually had planned to do that day.”
Most days include some combination of solving problems, responding to what has changed since yesterday, helping the team navigate the unexpected, and keeping everything moving in the right direction.
Fortunately, making sense of complicated situations is one of Rob’s strengths.
One colleague credits his institutional knowledge and expertise with helping the team navigate complex data, reporting, and operational challenges. Whether he is updating executive dashboards, building a presentation, or stepping in to solve an unexpected problem, Rob is known for contributing beyond what is required.
“His willingness to help, paired with his expertise, truly elevates the work we do,” his colleague shares.
Growing Across Audigy

Rob joined Audigy in 2009 as a Marketing Manager in the Strategic Business Unit (SBU), managing marketing strategies for members throughout Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California.
Working directly with members gave him a strong understanding of their businesses and what it takes to transform a marketing strategy into something that produces meaningful results.
He later became Marketing Innovation Lead, helping Marketing Managers access the tools, reporting, and resources they needed to execute successful strategies. He also served as a liaison between SBU Marketing and Marketing Shared Services, connecting member needs with the teams and resources that could address them.
In 2021 Rob moved into Marketing Shared Services as Director of Marketing Operations. His experience on both the strategic and operational sides of marketing gives him an uncommon ability to see the full picture.
“Rob is one of the original Audigy teammates who still embodies the values and mission we were founded on,” says Kelsey Rutis, Vice President of Marketing. “He brings a breadth of experience across the SBU and marketing teams that allows him to be highly effective.”
Rob’s progression was not part of a predetermined career plan. Each new opportunity developed as he learned more about himself, identified where he could contribute, and spoke with leaders who listened to what he wanted to accomplish.
“Audigy gave me the opportunity to pursue those interests rather than simply fitting into the role I started in,” he says.
Connecting the Work to the “Why”

Rob brings more than historical knowledge to his team. His experience building and executing strategies alongside members helps him explain not only what Audigy does but why.
“I really enjoy helping people understand Audigy’s marketing philosophy and the strategy behind the recommendations we make,” he says. “Sometimes that means explaining the big picture, and sometimes it means answering the question, ‘Why do we do it this way?’”
That context helps team members see how their work connects to the larger strategy and make more informed decisions. Rob also works to eliminate obstacles that prevent people from doing their best, whether that means improving an inefficient process, making complex data easier to use, or creating access to better tools and information.
“If I can remove some of the obstacles that get in their way, help them understand the bigger picture, and maybe teach them a thing or two about why we do what we do along the way, then I’m helping them achieve their goals while also making us a stronger team.”
Kelsey sees that combination of insight, support, and personality in Rob’s work every day.
“I value his passion for training and supporting our teams, and his love of data and spreadsheets. Not to mention his dry wit,” she says. “His ability to look at member and company data to make keen insights that drive direction brings so much value to our department and organization.”
Creating Space for Member Success

Marketing Shared Services helps Audigy members strengthen their brands, attract new patients, and stay connected with the patients they already serve. But turning strategy into action requires expertise across many disciplines.
Rob’s role is to help coordinate that expertise and create the conditions for more than 35 Marketing Shared Services professionals to work effectively together.
“When we can take the complexity of marketing strategy and execution off our members’ plates, it gives them more time to focus on what they do best: providing remarkable care to their patients and leading their teams,” he says.
Although much of this work happens behind the scenes, its impact can be seen in every campaign, creative piece, direct-mail program, media placement, and data-driven decision. Each contributes to the same objective: helping members build successful practices and achieve their personal, professional, and financial goals.
“We are a large and talented team working behind the scenes every day to help create the conditions that allow our members to achieve their goals,” Rob says.
Seventeen Years of Opportunities

When Rob considers what he enjoys most about Audigy, his answer comes down to two things: the people and the opportunities.
He has spent his career working with talented colleagues who continue to challenge him to learn and improve. Audigy has also given him room to explore new interests, take on different responsibilities, and shape a path that reflects his evolving goals.
Professionally, Rob has had opportunities to build teams, develop processes, work with emerging technology, and solve complex problems. Personally, he has felt supported in creating a career that suits his lifestyle.
“My professional goal isn’t just about what position I want to hold next,” he explains. “It’s about continuing to learn, having meaningful work, being challenged, working with good people, and having a career that fits into the life I want to build.”
After 17 years, Rob sees his career as a testament to that support.
“They’ve given me opportunities, but more importantly, they’ve given me the space to figure out what I wanted those opportunities to look like,” he says. “Every time I’ve been ready for the next challenge, Audigy has given me the opportunity to take it on.”
From the Airwaves to Audigy

Before joining Audigy, Rob spent the early part of his career in radio and television in Denver. He worked in promotions and marketing at KBCO before moving into national branding and marketing for Starz Movie Channel.
The radio years came with a few memorable perks.
Rob met musicians including Sheryl Crow and Richie Sambora, had dinner with the Indigo Girls and Chaka Khan, and once sat around a campfire singing songs with Todd Snider.
“Not exactly what I expected when I started my career,” he says, “but I’m certainly not complaining.”
His path may not have been conventional, but the different chapters gave him a broad marketing perspective and an appreciation for both the creative ideas people see and the coordinated efforts required to bring them to life.
Life at a Different Tempo

Outside work, Rob enjoys trying new restaurants, hiking, and playing disc golf. Music remains an important part of his life, although he now prefers to experience it at a somewhat slower pace.
One of his favorite ways to wind down is to put on a good record, sit down, and give it his full attention.
That intentional pause offers a fitting contrast to days spent responding to change and keeping countless moving pieces on track.
Whether Rob is interpreting data, improving a process, teaching the strategy behind a recommendation, or solving a problem before it slows anyone down, he helps make great work possible.
His leadership is reflected in smoother systems, clearer decisions, stronger teams, and better support for members. Rob may spend much of his time behind the scenes, but across Audigy, the impact of his work is easy to see.
