Meet the Expert: Becca Thomas

Feb 12, 2024 | Marketing

Becca Thomas is Events Manager at Audigy and is known for always bringing the party! The excellence she brings to every event is what made her the latest winner of Audigy’s Collins Award for Operational Effectiveness.

To say that Becca is detail-oriented doesn’t even scratch the surface of the value she brings to Audigy and to our members. Not only does Becca arrange travel and venues for members and internal staff, she coordinates all of the little things that go into making an event great.

What do her colleagues at Audigy say about her?

“There is no item on Becca’s checklist that goes missed or detail that is overlooked.”

“Whether it’s coordinating and planning the member dinners across the country, leading two virtual PFLs in August and September, or helping launch the updated Provider Boot Camp program, Becca is able to deliver outstanding experiences for everyone involved.”

Her Role at Audigy

A clock icon with an arrow going counterclockwiseCurrently an events manager, Becca started as a Corporate Service Coordinator in 2020 (when the world was not doing events). She helped with Summit 2022 and, shortly after, was promoted to Events Manager within the People and Organizational Development department. Her experience in events spans over a decade.

A Day in the Life

A document iconBecca says that the great thing about being an Events Manager is that there is no typical day. On any given day, you can find her vetting venues for 2025, negotiating contracts for transportation/catering/entertainment, creating special menus for upcoming events, tracking budgets, or perhaps managing timelines/logistics to make sure no detail is missed for an event.

Her Favorite Thing About Coming to Work

A speech bubble icon“I feel that my voice and opinions matter, and Audigy values the ideas I bring to the table,” Becca states. She puts great emphasis on the fact that she truly loves the people she works with: “They are all passionate but also like to have fun.”

Becca’s Personal & Professional Goals

A target iconBecca credits Audigy with helping her to accomplish a professional goal she had been striving for long before working at Audigy: becoming a corporate Events Manager. While she had plenty of experience in live events, that experience had mostly been on the hospitality side of things. While other companies didn’t see how that expertise translated from one facet of the events-planning business to another, she is grateful that Audigy saw her potential.

Beyond the Office Walls

An airplane iconDuring her weekends away from Audigy, Becca loves to travel! She is happiest when she is exploring the world with her husband and toddler. Just this last year, she was able to leave the comforts of home behind and visit Canada, England, Wales, Scotland, and Mexico! Additionally, she logged many weekend trips in the States. Becca laughs, “When I’m not traveling, you can find me hiking or camping — like most PNW folks.”

Something Surprising

A warning sign iconWhen asked for something that most people would be surprised to hear about her, Becca doesn’t flinch and replies, “I rappelled a 20-story building in Portland.” As part of a fundraiser for Girls Inc., she helped raised over $1,000, and it gave her the opportunity to rappel down a building in downtown Portland, Oregon. As I look at her quizzically over seeing that as an “opportunity,” Becca explains: “I really enjoy saying yes to new experiences and adventurous opportunities, and this was extra rewarding due to the fundraising aspect.”

Making the Earth a Better Place

A recycling iconWhen thinking of ways to leave the world a better place than she found it, Becca leans into sustainability and giving a helping hand to the environment. “I’m that person picking up trash at the playground or on the sidewalk.” She smiles when she says that her compost and recycling bins fill up quicker than her trash bins. In a beautiful example for her toddler, Becca and her family recently took in a duckling that the Audubon Society couldn’t foster. “It was fun watching him learn to fly,” she says. “I’m not perfect, but I try to help out nature in ways that I can.”

That same can-do spirit that benefitted this duckling is exactly what makes Becca such a valuable asset to Audigy and its members. We can’t wait to see what she has in store for us at the next big event!
