Meet the Expert: Karen Walker

Karen Walker

Finding the Rhythm

Running a medical practice rarely involves following a predictable plan. Karen Walker thrives when her day changes tempo. That’s why she loves supporting our health system and university members as they navigate the ups and downs of running their businesses.

As a Practice Management Consultant for Audigy, Karen helps members approach challenges, support their teams, and deliver exceptional patient care. She doesn’t just provide a service but rather builds relationships based on trust, responsiveness, and follow-through. This consistency helps members find a rhythm they can sustain that allows them to succeed.

That sense of rhythm extends beyond her work. In her spare time, Karen performs as a guitarist and singer, which reflects her discipline, adaptability, and capacity to connect with others.

Connecting the Dots

Karen’s day-to-day rarely fits neatly into a job description. “A typical day at Audigy is never quite ‘typical,’ and that’s one of the things I enjoy most,” she says.

On paper, her responsibilities include defined projects, processes, and deliverables. In practice, she may begin with one priority, then resolve a member issue, identify a process improvement, and continue to another unexpected project. “A big part of my day is connecting the dots,” Karen says.

“I’m constantly balancing what needs to happen today with what will make things better tomorrow.” She helps members directly, but a lot of her work is done behind the scenes. Karen manages processes that help members with what is happening now, while anticipating what may come next.

Helping Members Feel Heard

No matter how many priorities are in motion, Karen keeps one objective at the center of her work: helping members succeed.

When a member reaches out, Karen wants that person to feel heard, not passed around. She listens, asks questions, and works to understand the need beneath the initial request. Even when the answer is not immediately available, she connects them to the right resources, keeps the member informed, and follows the issue through to resolution.

“I don’t view those interactions as simply ‘support,’” she says. “I view them as relationships and opportunities to build trust.” Trust comes from doing what you say you will do, communicating when circumstances change, and being honest when you do not yet have an answer.

Hands-On Experience

Karen’s commitment to patient care made a hospital environment a natural fit early in her career. Today that background helps her understand the realities that Audigy’s health system and university members face. One colleague describes her this way: “Karen brings invaluable, hands-on experience to helping clinics succeed. From day-to-day administrative operations to sharing hard-won lessons and insights, she always gives us something meaningful to strive toward.”

Karen understands that members are healthcare professionals and business leaders balancing many demands. Supporting them requires advice that is both informed and practical. That is why she looks beyond the immediate question.

If several members encounter the same obstacle, she wants to understand why. If a resource is not being used, she asks what is getting in the way. “If we can anticipate a member’s question before they have to ask it, even better,” Karen says.

Looking for a Better Way

Karen enjoys the variety of her work because it gives her regular opportunities to solve problems and learn. Her curiosity often begins with a simple thought: “There has to be a better or more effective way to do this.”

That mindset is about recognizing patterns, listening to feedback, and making improvements that work in the real world. That could mean developing a clearer resource, moving information faster, or reducing the steps between a member and a solution.

Karen also appreciates having supportive colleagues and working for a company whose values show up daily. Audigy’s work-life balance and supportive culture give her room to contribute and grow.

Growing Through Experience

Audigy has given Karen opportunities to learn from others, develop new skills, and become more confident taking ownership of complex situations.

“Audigy has supported me in ways that go far beyond simply providing me with a place to work,” she says. “It has given me opportunities to grow, people to learn from, challenges that have stretched me, and an environment where I’ve been encouraged to become more than I was when I started.”

For Karen, professional and personal growth are closely connected. She wants to be confident, dependable, curious, and always learning while doing meaningful work and building strong relationships.

Striking a Chord

Outside work, Karen finds balance through two very different parts of her life: competitive tennis and time with her grandchildren. “Tennis challenges me to push myself, stay disciplined, compete, and keep improving,” she says. “My grandchildren remind me about connection, perspective, patience, and enjoying the people and moments that matter most.”

Together these experiences reflect the balance Karen brings to her work. She is driven to improve but never loses sight of the people involved. Karen also gives back through the Veterans Auxiliary, helping raise money to support her local post and its activities. Supporting veterans and her community is a cause she cares about deeply.

Taking the Stage

One thing that may surprise colleagues who know Karen primarily through her consulting work: She is the guitarist and singer in a band. For Karen, the experience is about more than playing songs, though.

“There’s something special about getting several people together, each bringing their own personality and musical style, and turning that into something that connects with an audience,” she says. The connection to her work is clear. Strong partnerships require people to listen, contribute their strengths, adjust to one another, and work toward a shared result.

An Impact Built on Trust

Karen’s work may change from one day to the next, but the principles behind it remain steady. Listen first, look beyond the surface question, follow through, and keep learning. One colleague says, “Karen brings a wealth of knowledge and input into any meeting, with the ability to dive deeper through thoughtful questions.”

Whether she is helping a member, improving a process, or collaborating with her team, Karen stays present while keeping the larger goal in view. Her experience, adaptability, and genuine care make her a trusted partner to Audigy’s members and teammates, helping them build something better for tomorrow.
