Leadership Spotlight: Sam Haney

Sam Haney might not take the stage with a rock band every day, but at Audigy, he’s the steady bassline that keeps the rhythm strong and the tempo smooth. As Vice President of Shared Service Operations, Sam anchors the behind-the-scenes essentials that let Audigy’s members and teams shine out front — all with the precision, harmony, and groove of a seasoned bass player.

Keeping the Beat for Audigy’s Members

Sam joined Audigy in 2013 as a Business Analyst on the Business Development team. Over the years, he’s fine-tuned his role from crunching numbers to orchestrating services that help practices focus on their people and patients. Now, as VP of Shared Service Operations, Sam oversees bookkeeping, billing, expansion, and IT needs — ensuring members can focus on what they do best while he keeps everything else in tune.

Vice President of Marketing at Audigy, Kelsey Rutis, sings Sam’s praises: “Sam is a strategic leader who not only ensures we’re delivering premier financial, business development, and IT services to our membership, but also providing guidance to owners to help them achieve their ownership maturity goals.”

“Members pour so much into their teams and their patients,” Sam says. “If we can help take the pressure off their plate — whether it’s their billing or technology — that means more time for them to be present where it really matters.”

A Day in the Life

If there’s one thing Sam loves about his work, it’s that no two days hit the same note. One moment he’s collaborating on a new billing initiative, and the next he’s helping a member expand to a new location or complete a major acquisition. He thrives on the variety and the challenge, staying nimble and adaptable — just like a musician moving through a new setlist.

He’s not just the guy handling spreadsheets and service rollouts, though. For Sam, it’s deeply personal. “When a member tells me they got to take a real vacation because we handled the rest — that’s what makes this worth it.”

Kelsey Rutis adds, “It’s been a pleasure working with Sam for over a decade. I’ve watched him advise our members in key growth strategies, including acquisitions, expansions, and legacy transitions, to ensure they can meet their goals and help more patients.”

Supporting the Team

Inside Audigy, Sam is known for more than just operational excellence. He’s an advocate for his team’s personal, professional, and financial goals — and he credits Audigy for instilling that in him, too.

“I’ve grown more here than I ever expected,” he says. “We’re encouraged to bring fresh ideas, try new approaches, and do what hasn’t been done before. That environment shaped me as a leader, and I want to pay that forward.”

Just like how a bassist listens to every instrument on stage, Sam listens to his people.

“Sam is an engaged leader that fosters a culture of trust and empowers others to grow and contribute meaningfully. He invests the time to understand me personally and how to best communicate and motivate me. I consider myself lucky to have him as my leader,” shares Kevin Rose, Senior Business Analyst at Audigy.

Sam works to clear roadblocks, amplify strengths, and keep everyone playing from the same sheet music. He believes that when the internal team feels supported, they can deliver a performance that members notice and value.

Robynn Maedl, Manager of Audigy Bookkeeping Services, notes, “Sam consistently provides unwavering support to help me and my team achieve our goals. His open-door policy and willingness to listen and offer thoughtful guidance create a safe and trusting environment where I feel comfortable sharing openly and without judgment.”

What He Loves About Audigy

For Sam, the true joy is in the relationships — both within Audigy and with members nationwide. Watching practices thrive, seeing legacies secured, and helping people achieve goals they once thought impossible all keep him inspired.

“There’s an energy here,” he says. “We’re driven to innovate, but at the core, it’s about people. That’s what makes Audigy special — we’re in it for each other.”

He also appreciates the balance Audigy encourages. “I never have to sacrifice my family to succeed at work. I get to show up fully here and be fully present at home — that’s rare, and I’m grateful for it.”

Life Outside of Work

When he’s not keeping Audigy’s operations grooving, Sam’s likely out camping with his wife, son, and their two golden retrievers — or laying down basslines on Sunday mornings for his church’s worship team.

Music has always been a constant in Sam’s life, and he loves sharing that passion through service. “Playing bass at church reminds me how a steady rhythm holds everything together. It’s the same at work — I want to be that steady support people can count on.”

One fun fact? Sam married his junior high sweetheart — they’ve been together since 2006 and are still finding new adventures to share.
