Honors of the Academy Award Winner

Founding Audigy member Angela Loavenbruck, Ed.D., receives prestigious award from the American Academy of Audiology

March 28th, 2019, Vancouver, WA — Audiologist Angela Loavenbruck, Ed.D., won the Honors of the Academy award March 28 at the American Academy of Audiology’s AAA Annual Conference, held this year in Columbus, OH.

The American Academy of Audiology is the world’s largest professional organization of audiologists. It advances the profession through its pillars of leadership, advocacy, education, public awareness, and research support. This award recognizes one audiologist and one non-audiologist for their noteworthy support of issues that directly affect the field of audiology and its patients.

“It’s no surprise to many of us that she was selected,” said Misty Stern, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Operations at Audigy. “Her dedication and humility are truly inspirational. I can’t think of many people who are as passionate about the profession and have as much positive energy to put into it as she does.”

Dr. Loavenbruck earned her doctorate from Columbia University in 1973 and has been in private practice since 1975. She co-authored the first textbook for audiologists on hearing aid dispensing, Hearing Aid Dispensing for Audiologists: A Guide for Clinical Service, and is an in-demand speaker nationally on hearing instrument evaluation and fitting issues.

“It’s humbling to receive such an honor,” said Dr. Loavenbruck. “Our field is filled with exceptional, passionate people, so to be singled out by my peers for the same qualities is especially satisfying.”

Dr. Loavenbruck is a tireless supporter of and advocate for the field of audiology. She has served on numerous national standards and ethical practices boards and was president of the New York Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Academy of Audiology. She has also received the Academy of Doctors of Audiology’s Joel Wernicke Award for her outstanding educational contributions in the field.
